If gift giving is part of your holiday celebrations, please consider giving your family and friends the gift of poetry. Most poets and many poetry publishers do not make their living off of poetry– but we might like to! So if you haven’t given poetry books before, give your loved ones something fresh and different this year. The folks at Split This Rock Poetry Blog, recently posted a number of poetry books you might consider. I’m thrilled that Meeting Bone Man made their list. There are lots of excellent suggestions on their blog at Blog This Rock. You can also find some fine poetry books by Randall Horton, Melanie Henderson, Niki Herd and others at Main Street Rag Publishing.
I would also urge you to consider the groundbreaking anthology Collective Brightness: LGBTIQ Poets on Faith, Religion, and Spirituality from Sibling Rivalry Press. Speaking of Sibling Rivalry Press, their work is outstanding. Take a look at their offerings, especially Bryan Borland’s beautiful book of poems, Less Fortunate Pirates.
